Remembering SANDZ  VALERIE "BUNNY" BRAXTON

BELOW IS BUNNY'S TRIBUTE THAT INCLUDES THE PROGRAM FROM HER GOING HOME CELEBRATION

On August 24th, 2023, we lost our line sister VALERIE LAVERNE "BUNNY" FORD BRAXTON, 19AG73 to a long-term disease and illness. She is now the fourth link we've lost from our New Birth 38 line to earn their heavenly wings. Bunny as we affectionately called her stayed connected with line sister Cris who were roommates their last year at Morgan and lived in the same area of Maryland while she married and had children. Bunny also remained in contact with several other line sisters which included having lunches with line sister Carliss since they both worked in Washington, DC. Although we had made every effort in past years to reconnect with her, Bunny was a very private person who will be remembered by her family and friends for her admirable strength and resiliency no matter what obstacles life threw her way.  Although Bunny disassociated herself from us after numerous attempts to include her in line reunions.  In hindsight, this more than likely had to do with the disease she suffered from and chose to remain in absentia.  It saddens us now, however, to know that our Bunny's Going home celebration service was held a week before celebrating our 50th this past October 2023. We were so close and yet so far.  Bunny's last days were spent residing with her son Michael in  Prince George County, Maryland.                                                                                                                                                                                          Bunny's line name was "Ruth Buzzi" and she'll be remembered for being very talkative, having a great sense of humor, loyalty, being straightforward, honest, and quirky.  Her smile was also one that lit up a room.  Bunny is survived by her two sons, four grandchildren and four siblings.  She and her husband Michael were divorced but remained unified in care of their sons.
